Lots of homeowners relish in doing their own DIY jobs for fun and for saving money. On the other hand, the right tools are needed or the jobs are no fun at all.
Having moved into a new house, there were a couple of reasons for constructing a new outside storage shed. Hold it, that would actually be three reasons.
First, my wife was upset that the garage had become somewhat of a "Fiber McGee's Closet" with all my "stuff" from our old house being crammed into a space about half the size of the former space. More space was required to preserve our relationship.
Reason #2 was personal. I couldn't find anything the way it was all stuffed together. Doing anything around the house was taking twice as long due to the hunting part of the project. There was not enough room to get organized.
The last and most important reason was that I did not yet own an impact driver, and having heard that they are awesome, I wanted one pretty badly. As is the addiction of many DIYers, I am a tool gatherer. I in point of fact invent jobs just so I can purchase a tool. I did not have an impact driver yet, so what better reason to get one than this new outside shed.
Creating a list of materials is always the first order of business when I start a new job. I did not hesitate. I put a
DeWalt DCF815S2 12-volt Cordless Compact Impact Driver right at the top of the list. I would have to get this approved by the family financial director (my wife). But I had a strategy for that. Since impact drivers require less physical energy than regular drills, that is just one more reason for an "old dude" like me to get one.
I showed the list to my wife with an air of confidence that she would put her stamp of approval on it. Her first question was about the cost of the impact driver. She wanted to know if this was just another of my passing fancies. I assured her that it was necessary for my health, and she bought it.
Now that I have the tool, I can assure you, the rumors did not do it justice. It is a truly amazing tool. Driving fasteners with this new tool is really easy on the arm. My cordless drill weighs about twice as much as the impact driver. In fact, this new impact driver has become my new favorite. My new challenge is dreaming up jobs so I can use the impact driver.
Using the impact driver, the shed got completed in record time. Our relationship is now on solid ground again.
DeWalt has always been a trusted name in tools. The
