Cheap Digital SLR? The Canon Rebel T3 is one (and nearly everyone has to agree). While it definitely is cheap, it truly delivers in terms of image quality.

The Rebel T3 (not to be confused with the T3i) is an upgrade of the wildly popular Canon XS. When buyers started putting the word out about the XS model, it started flying off the shelves in huge numbers. That popularity has not diminished, and it is still the number one cheap digital slr in sales at Amazon.

Can You Get Quality If It's Cheap?

Part of the reason for success was that one could get remarkable quality at a low cost, and that without a large investment of time to learn about the camera. In terms of quality, someone who is a new, non-professional camera buyer can take the same excellent photographs with an entry-level (cheap) digital SLR as with a mid-range (more expensive) digital SLR.

What types of individuals use Digital SLRs?

The age of digital photography is upon us, and so many more people are getting into in taking and sharing their pictures. There are parents who want to keep family memories, young adults who find the creative aspects of photography captivating, avid sports fans who enjoy taking photos of their favorite events, celebrity fans who desire to record their concert appearances, nature lovers desiring to find out about the wonders of creation, and just about any other use you can suppose.

These people are upgrading from point and shoot cameras to digital SLR cameras to get improved results. The most obvious choice for new photographers is an entry-level digital slr camera. Quality without complications (the complication of learning a new, high-powered camera system) is what they want.

The Canon T3 is maintaining the tradition of the XS in that a raw camera user can start using this camera right out of the box and get the splendid photographs they wished for.

Upgrades? What has been improved?

The Rebel T3 has better "stuff" than its older sibling. The fundamental technology of digital SLRs has improved by leaps and bounds. The T3 has a CMOS image sensor of 12-megapixels as opposed to the old 10-megapixel sensor. Even though it is simply an additional 2MP, because of the advance of technology, the sensor is just plain better. Also, the XS does not have video, but the T3 does, and pretty much everyone expects video these days. Add to that the dozens of creative additions to the camera software, and you have a much better camera for all aspects of camera use.

Price is the determining factor for many buyers.

Can you believe there are lots of digital SLR cameras for less than $600? All the major camera makers have an entry-level DSLR that is cheap. For lots of buyers, getting a good, cheap camera is their major concern, and they will be content with this Rebel for a long, long time. But if considering getting more involved about photography and extra lenses, check out the lens choices for future possibilities.
